MCALEER CALLS ON REGIONAL COUNCILLOR TO COME CLEAN ABOUT CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, March 21, 2011 (Ajax, Ontario) – Local Resident, Kurtis McAleer is calling on Regional Councillor, Shaun Collier to come clean on campaign contributions he accepted while campaigning as a “Developer Free Candidate” during the 2010 elections. Councillor Collier’s financial return saw him receiving donations from Jerry Coughlan, Ron Halliday, Al Libfeld and Ed Boddy, all know in the development industry. He also took a donation from “Highland Farms Inc.”, which owns property in the province’s greenbelt. When attempting to contact the Councillor via Twitter, he wouldn’t reply. Repeated attempts have been made for a comment from the Councillor. To be clear, I am not, in any way, against accepting donations from the development industry or corporations, as long as you disclose it during the campaign and I am a firm believer that Council should have a good relationship with developers, but this is about a blatant lie that helped get a Councillor elected. I have attached a copy of his financial statement and also a picture of a survey he filled out during the campaign, where he said he would not take contributions from the development industry, directly or indirectly Kurtis McAleer TeamMcAleer@live.ca (905) 626-2271 www.KurtisMcAleer.blogspot.com
