Marsha first became enlightened about Ajax in 1975 when one of her best friends bought a brand new home on Swanston. Marsha thought they were crazy to drive Ajax to Don Mills everyday for work! Many good times were spent with them at that home on Swanston along with a few visits to the Ajax Bingo. The Ajax phone book was so small then too. Little did the Dooley’s know it wouldn’t be long before Ajax became their home too.
Marsha has lived and worked in Ajax with her husband Eamon since 1982. Eamon came to Canada at the age of 21 and they met 10 months after his arrival. They will be married 29 years this year. They have three grown sons (now 27, 25 and 23). The boys were raised in Ajax and graduated from Ajax schools. Peter completed a Bachelor of Science in the Honours Program for Economics at Trent University in 2008. James (on the Dean’s list) completed a BA(Hons) at UOIT this past June for Integrated Justice Studies and Criminology. Daniel continues with his insurance studies while lifeguarding.
Marsha established her insurance business in Ajax in 1985. In business, Marsha has obtained the credentials, of Chartered Insurance Professional, Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker and Elder Planning Councilor. Understanding the issues facing our seniors is prominent in her continuing education. Having raised a family while coping with the passing of both parents and building a business has shaped her ability to handle stressful situations and empathize with neighbours.
Marsha sits on the board for Ajax Rotary Club, Durham Shores Chorus and Pickering Village BIA. Marsha attended every meeting held through the Town planning process for Pickering Village. Through the years she has served as a leader with Scouts Canada, sponsored soccer (hubby, Eamon coached) and hockey, served on the PTA at her children's local school (it was called PTA back in the day), Marsha was a Block Parent and Block Captain for Neighbourhood Watch. Marsha has been supporting numerous children through Foster Parents Plan (Plan Canada) since 1985. Marsha is a member of the Ajax Rotary Club and Ajax Legion, associate member, honouring her father who served 5 years overseas during WWII.
